BOVAER-Free Farms Directory for Australia

Started December 5, 2024, this directory aims to connect Australian consumers with local farmers and graziers who maintain our country’s proud tradition of clean, natural livestock practices. With major retailers like Coles expanding Bovaer use across their supply chains, we’re creating a resource for Australians seeking meat and dairy products from farms that prioritize time-tested methods over corporate solutions.

What is Bovaer?

Bovaer is a feed additive containing 3-nitrooxypropanol (3-NOP), approved by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority in September 2021. Following $9.1 million in research funding from Meat & Livestock Australia, it’s being rapidly introduced into major supply chains, including Coles’ Carbon Neutral Beef program. While marketed as reducing methane emissions by 50-90% in feedlots, its long-term effects on animal and human health remain unstudied.

Why This Directory Matters

As our supermarket duopoly pushes forward with Bovaer adoption, maintaining transparency in our food system becomes crucial. This directory supports Australian farmers who preserve traditional practices, helps consumers make informed choices about their food, and strengthens the connection between local producers and their communities. From the paddock to the plate, we’re preserving Australia’s farming heritage.

For Farmers & Graziers

If you’re a livestock producer committed to never using Bovaer in your animal feed, join our directory. Whether you’re running cattle in the outback or dairy farming in Victoria’s Gippsland region, your listing will help connect you with consumers who value traditional farming methods. As major retailers expand their Bovaer programs, this network becomes increasingly important for maintaining alternative supply chains.
