Frequently Asked Questions

At Intelligent Wellbeing, your satisfaction means everything to us. We craft our products with care and stand by their quality. If something doesn’t feel right, here’s how we handle returns and replacements.

Who are you and what do you stand for?

We’re Intelligent Wellbeing—small-batch makers obsessed with real, regenerative ingredients and simple formulas that actually serve your body. Our products are made by hand, not mass-produced in a big lab. We prioritize grass-fed animal fats, organic botanicals whenever possible, and clean processes that avoid unnecessary additives. Short labels. High standards. No nonsense.

Where do you source your ingredients?

We source grass-fed, pasture-raised tallow from responsible ranchers who care about animal welfare and land stewardship. Plant oils, waxes, clays, and extracts are organic whenever feasible or wild-harvested from trusted partners. Every supplier we work with must meet our quality, transparency, and contamination-avoidance requirements. If an ingredient can’t meet our bar, it doesn’t make it into the jar.

What does “dry-rendered tallow” mean and why do you use it?

“Dry rendering” means we gently melt down suet without added water, then carefully filter it. This preserves the tallow’s naturally balanced fatty acids (similar to human sebum), minimizes impurities, and avoids high-heat damage. The result is a clean, neutral tallow that sinks in fast, supports the skin barrier, and plays nicely with sensitive or reactive skin when used correctly.

Are your products EDC-free and PFAS-free?

Yes—no intentionally added endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) like parabens, phthalates, triclosan, or oxybenzone, and no intentionally added PFAS (“forever chemicals”). We favor whole-ingredient formulations and essential-oil scenting (or unscented). We also request documentation from suppliers regarding material safety and non-PFAS processing. As always with “free-from” claims, trace environmental contamination can exist anywhere in the modern world; our promise is that we don’t knowingly use these chemicals.

Are your products organic?

We prioritize organic inputs where it makes sense and where supply is reliable. You’ll see organic items called out on our ingredient lists (we mark them clearly). Some materials—like mineral zinc oxide or beeswax—aren’t “certified organic” in the same way produce is, but we still hold them to high purity standards.

Are you cruelty-free?

Absolutely. We never test on animals and don’t work with suppliers who do.

Are your products vegan?

Many of our hero products use tallow (animal-derived) and beeswax. Those items are not vegan. We do offer a handful of plant-forward accessories (e.g., brushes, tools) and are always exploring plant-based options where they don’t compromise performance—but we won’t pretend tallow is vegan.

Do you use synthetic fragrance?

No. We either leave products unscented or use essential oils and natural extracts. If you’re sensitive, choose unscented options or patch test first.

I have acne/eczema/psoriasis. Will tallow help or make it worse?

Many people with barrier-disrupted skin do well with tallow because it mimics skin’s natural lipids and supports repair. That said, every skin story is different. Start with a pea-sized amount on clean, damp skin, patch test on the inner arm or behind the ear for 24 hours, and build up slowly. For active flares, keep it simple (unscented), and talk to your clinician if you’re under care.

How do I use tallow balm correctly?

Warm a pea-sized amount between clean fingertips until it softens, then press into damp skin (face or body). A little goes a long way. You can layer over hydrosol or after bathing for best absorption. If you look shiny, you used too much.

Why does my balm feel firmer/softer this month?

Tallow and beeswax naturally respond to temperature. If it’s firmer, warm it between fingers or set the closed jar in your pocket for a few minutes. If it’s softer in summer, store in a cool, dry place and keep the lid tight.

What’s the shelf life?

We make products fresh in small batches. Unopened, they’re best within 12–18 months; once opened, enjoy within 6–12 months for peak freshness. Keep your jars tightly closed, away from heat and direct sun, and use clean hands or a spatula.

What about your magnesium products—why do they tingle?

Topical magnesium can create a temporary tingling or “itchy” salt feel, especially on freshly shaved or very dry skin. Apply to intact, dry skin, use a small amount, and moisturize after if needed. Tingling typically eases as skin adjusts.

Is your packaging sustainable?

We favor reusable glass, minimal plastic, and right-sized shipping materials. Please reuse or recycle where facilities exist. We continuously audit packaging for durability, recyclability, and chemical safety (including PFAS-avoidant papers and liners where available).

Do you have monthly subscriptions?

No. We don’t do hidden subscriptions, negative options, or surprise rebills. If we ever offer a subscribe-and-save option, it will be opt-in, crystal-clear, and easy to cancel. For now, everything is one-time purchase.

What if my package says “Delivered” but it’s not here?

We follow a replacement-not-refund policy for orders scanned as Delivered by the carrier. Start by checking with neighbors, household members, and your local post office. If it doesn’t turn up, reach out and we’ll arrange a one-time replacement of the same items to the original address.

What’s your return policy?

You have 45 days from delivery to request a return on used, unused, unopened items. Once received and approved, we’ll refund to your original payment method. If your order had a free gift, return it unused or we deduct its value. For full details, see our Return & Refund Policy (same rules apply site-wide).

Who pays for return shipping?

If we made a mistake or your item arrived damaged/defective, that’s on us—we’ll cover it and get a replacement out to you. For all other returns, customers cover return shipping. We recommend a trackable method.

How long do orders take to ship?

We pack orders quickly in the order they’re received and hand them to the carrier as soon as possible. Actual transit time depends on your location and the carrier’s current speed. You’ll get a tracking email the moment your label is created.

Do you do wholesale or bulk orders?

We selectively partner with shops and practitioners who share our sourcing values. Email support@intelligentwellbeing.com
