We pride ourselves on transparency, so let’s break down the “scary” sounding ones. The main conditioning agent we use is Behentrimonium Methosulfate (BTMS-50). Despite the word “sulfate” in the name, it is not a sulfate surfactant (like SLS) that strips hair. It is a gentle, conditioning emulsifier derived from the Colza plant (Rapeseed oil). We use it because raw oils alone cannot detangle hair; you need a positive (cationic) charge to smooth the hair cuticle and provide that “slip” you love. We also use Cetyl Alcohol, which is a fatty alcohol derived from coconuts—think of it as a solid oil. Unlike “rubbing alcohol” which dries skin, fatty alcohols are incredibly moisturizing and essential for making a solid bar that actually works.

Quality ingredients cost more. While shampoo uses simpler surfactants, our conditioner uses premium BTMS-50 (a high-end emulsifying wax) and pure Mango Butter. These raw materials are 3-4x more expensive but essential for true salon-quality detangling and softness.
